The hatchery was born in Joel and Martha Martin’s backyard, on the same property where they raised their four daughters. They started by raising Bantam Silkies and Guinea Keets in the 1980s and began hatching their own birds in the late 1990s. Today, the business is a family of hatcheries, including chickens and other poultry for sale by Freedom Ranger Hatchery, Fifth Day Farm, Inc., Blue Banty Farm, and Hillside Hatchery.
